A Level Urdu is a good basis to progress to further studies including International Relations, South-Asian Studies and Global Studies.

**Do I need to be a native Urdu speaker?**  
_No, the course is designed for someone who has studied to learn the language, although if you are not a native speaker then studying GCSE Urdu first is beneficial._

**Is there a speaking exam?**  
_No, A Level Urdu focuses on listening, reading and writing._

**How does the listening examination work?**  
_Candidates are provided with their own MP3 player onto which the listening files have been downloaded; you will need to provide your own noise cancelling headphones or earphones which has a jack connector._

**Do I need to bring copies of my research or the set texts to the exams?**  
_No, these are closed book exams, although extracts from the set texts may be given in the exams._

**Am I allowed to use a dictionary in the exams?**  
_No, dictionaries are not allowed for any of the exams._
