**A Level Italian**

The A Level Italian course equips students with an in depth knowledge of the vocabulary and grammar of the Italian Language allowing them to appreciate the culture and media from Italy. A Level Italian is a good basis to progress to further studies including Modern Languages, International Relations and European Studies.

**FAQ A Level Italian:**

**Do I need to be a native Italian speaker?**  
_No, the course is designed for someone who has studied to learn the language, although if you are not a native speaker then studying GCSE Italian first is beneficial._

**I am resitting, can I carry forward my speaking exam?**  
_Yes, please ensure you select the correct option above. You will need to provide the UCI number you used when you originally took the exams and proof of the original mark for this component._

**What are the arrangements for the speaking part of the exam?**  
_The speaking part of the exam is conducted at our centre in Birmingham in May. You will be sent a date and time for your speaking exam by mid April. Two weeks before the exam you will be required to complete a form with details of your individual research project which you will present as part of the speaking assessment. The speaking exam takes no longer than 30 minutes to complete. Please remember to bring your ID to the speaking exam._

**How does the listening examination work?**  
_Candidates are provided with their own MP3 player onto which the listening files have been downloaded; you will need to provide your own noise cancelling headphones or earphones which has a jack connector._

**Do I need to bring copies of my research or the set texts to the exams?**  
_No, these are closed book exams, although extracts from the set texts may be given in the exams._

**Am I allowed to use a dictionary in the exams?**  
_No, dictionaries are not allowed for any of the exams._
